This Sunday, September 21st marks National Brunch Day, and San Diego is full of some of the best brunch spots in California.

In May of this year, brunch in PB got a whole lot more exciting with the announcement of Mavericks Beach Club’s new weekend brunch menu. Available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am - 1:00pm, brunch-goers can enjoy plates like the Chicken & Biscuits, butter milk fried chicken thigh, hot garlic honey, and biscuits served with smashed potatoes, or opt to indulge in the Ultimate Breakfast Burrito - machaca braised beef short rib, herb scrambled eggs, smashed potatoes, white cheddar cheese, and salsa verde, wrapped in a fresh flour tortilla. Morning cocktails include the Mavericks Bloody Mary, the Breakfast Shot - Jameson Whiskey, Butterscotch Schnapps, orange juice, bacon strip, and the mimosa bar, with $15 bottles of Brut or Rose. 860 Garnet Avenue

There’s nothing like oceanfront brunch vibes, and The Duck Dive, in Pacific Beach, offers the perfect setting just steps from the sand. From the Turkey and Bacon Benny - a hearty, flavor-packed favorite, layering savory turkey and crispy applewood-smoked bacon on a toasted English muffin, topped with creamy avocado, two poached eggs, and house-made orange zest hollandaise - to the Candied Walnut French Toast, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Pair with Duck Dive’s bottomless mimosa special, available until 3:00pm on Saturdays and Sunday (1:00pm during the week) with the purchase of an entrée. Brunch at Duck Dive is available daily. 4650 Mission Blvd

Casa Gabriela in the heart of La Mesa Village is open for weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Executive Chef Gaby Lopez offers traditional Mexican recipes passed down from her grandmother and reimagined with a modern, elevated presentation. Enjoy Chicken Barbacoa Chilaquiles, Enchiladas Marisco Suiza, Mama Lopez’s Huevos Rancheros, and more in the heart of La Mesa Village. Insider tip: Chef Gaby’s secret/not-so-secret passion is baking, so don’t miss out on her pan dulces, which she bakes fresh every weekend along with house-made jams. 8384 La Mesa Blvd.

There’s no better place to immerse yourself in Southern California’s laid-back, coastal lifestyle than Sandbar Sports Bar & Grill, in Mission Beach. Brunch, available daily from 9:00am – noon, includes the two Breakfast Taco Plate, scrambles and classic egg dishes, Huevos Rancheros made with three eggs, any style, lightly fried corn, tortillas, beans, mixed cheese, ranchero sauce, and pico de gallo, and even options for the kids! Cheers to everyone’s favorite morning meals with the House Michelada, Modelo, house blend Bloody Mary mix with clamato and lime juice. Sandbar also serves nitro cold brew coffee if you’re looking for an extra pick-me-up. 718 Ventura Place

Brought to life by Rise & Shine Hospitality Group, this imaginative eatery blends neighborhood flair with next-level morning fare, all served in a lively, design-forward space that feels as vibrant as the menu.  The lineup of crave-worthy dishes includes crowd-pleasers like Blueberry, Maple Bacon, and S’mores Waffle Pops, Matcha Flood Pancakes, Turkish Eggs, Chipotle Chilaquiles, a Grilled Birria Sandwich, and the must-try Shrimp Katsu Benedict. Brunch isn’t complete without a cocktail—or two—and 6th & G’s drink menu is anything but ordinary.
